Our week in Winnipeg was pretty darn good. My son's football team won the Bronze medal in his football tournament. The most exciting game being played at the Blue Bombers stadium. It was a fantastic experience for him and he looks forward to next year's tournament that will be held in Quebec.
I visited the zoo where the statue of Winnie the Bear can be found. This is the bear that became the story of Winnie the Pooh. We also went to the Royal Canadian Mint. I held $386,000 in my hands. It was actually a 28 lb. bar of 99.99% pure gold. Or so the armed guard that was standing next to me, told me. I could have used that gold bar after visiting the casinos there. I failed to follow my own rule. If you're WINNING get up and get out! It was fun though.
However, the flight there was a nightmare. Our day started at 8:30AM on the first flight. We sat on the plane in Montreal for 3 hours before it even got off the ground. Storms in Toronto closed their airport and no flights were arriving or departing. By the time we actually arrived in TO, we were 4 hours late for our connecting flight. And I'll just say this, I was wearing a white skirt while stuck on the plane....oh hello Aunt Flo! DAMMIT!!
The airport was jammed with people who were scrambling to find new flights. The earliest we could get booked on a flight was 10:30pm later that night, but we were on standby on a 7:30pm flight. As it turned out, the 7:30 flight was delayed until 9:30 and we were able to get on that flight.
I called home to inform my husband of my horrible day so far, and he informs me that our car has died! He got back home from dropping me off at the airport and the car refused to start back up. ARGH!!
We arrived in Winnipeg close to midnight, and when I finally got to my room I discovered that the combination lock on my suitcase had reset itself to an entirely new combination!! I sat down thinking it's only 3 numbers I have to figure out, so if I can't come up with it, I'm going to cut open my suitcase and then buy a new one. Luckily it only took 46 clicks to get the combination and get into my bag. Needless to say I'll never use that lock ever again.
The next day my husband called to say that there was just a loose wire on the car and all was fine.
So, life is slowly returning back to normal. Tomorrow I'm going for a job interview, which according to my husband is already a shoe in. It helps when your husband is already working in management and can pull some strings. Thankfully I won't be working with my husband though. I love him more than anything but I don't think we'd stay married if we lived together and worked together as well! It's not the most exciting job, but a pay cheque is a pay cheque!
Ah well.
When life hands you lemons....slice 'em up, throw 'em in a gallon of booze and get drunk!
